HONDURAS LT DATES
May 20, 2019 - July 10, 2019
HONDURAS LT COSTS
The cost of the LT program is $3,900. This will include housing, food, airfare to/from Honduras and other program fees. Interns will need to raise between $7,000-$8,000 total to cover the program fee and their salaries.
HONDURAS LT APPLICATION DEADLINES
February 28, 2019
The LT program will take place in Choluteca, Honduras. Choluteca is situated in southern Honduras between El Salvador and Nicaragua and is considered to be the second hottest city in the country and the fourth largest city with a population of around 150,000-200,000.

LT participants will be serving with the Great Commission Latin America church in Choluteca. The church has several projects to help the community. The two main projects LT participants work with are:
- Limon Community Development Center: Limon is a nearby town that is very impoverished. The church runs a center that consists of a children's nutrition clinic, day care, after school program, English classes and computer classes.
- Casa Hogar Vida: An orphanage and HIV/AIDS support center that provides services and support to HIV-positive families and is a vehicle to administer desperately needed treatment, education and Christian counseling.
HOUSING AND MEALS
LT participants live in a very safe mission house run by the church just outside the city. Dinner will be prepared for participants each night and a food allowance is given to make your own breakfast and lunch.
Living in a foreign country has its challenges, but safety issues in Choluteca, Honduras, are generally no greater than safety issues in the United States. LT participants will live together in safe housing and will be encouraged to always have at least one other person with them in public. Each LT participant will be registered with the U.S. Embassy. The LT program takes the safety of its participants very seriously. There were no safety issues at previous Honduras LTs.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Specific roles will depend on the LT participants’ abilities/desires and the needs of the Choluteca church. Job possibilities include serving at the daycare/malnutrition clinic, teaching English or computer classes, working with Casa Hogar Vida projects, working with HIV support groups, helping with the microloan program and many others.
UNIQUE OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY
LT participants will regularly be reaching out to their Honduran counterparts of similar age, especially through the context of a local college campus in Choluteca.
DO I HAVE TO SPEAK SPANISH?
No! It’s an added benefit if you do speak Spanish, but it is not a requirement to participate in Honduras LT..
WHO ELSE IS COMING?
The summer 2018 team consisted of fourteen students from several different schools. This is a great opportunity to get to know students from other schools and share an awesome experience with them!
